The Emerald Isle is once again the destination for the Open. In 2019 The Open Championship will be played at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. It was last played outside mainland Britain at Portrush in 1951 when Max Faulkner won with a score of -3. Local Major winners are no strangers to Royal Portrush with Darren Clarke & Graeme McDowell both closely associated with the club. The course record was also held by a young Rory McIlroy who shot a 61 in 2005 as a sixteen year old.
